Our dear friend recently had a milestone birthday – 30! We jumped at the opportunity to throw her a birthday dinner and celebrate.
Since her favorite color is mint, we themed the decor around mint and white.
We used a plain white tablecloth with some mint green runners that we made with some fun fabric we found. The plates were from Party City and looked like china but were actually plastic- so much easier for clean up!

The gift table was decorated with the same runner that we used for the main table and some mint and white accent pieces.
Hanging anything from the ceiling is an inexpensive way to make a room look more festive. We used the flat paper decorations but Chinese lanterns would have worked too.
I love using hydrangeas for flower arrangements- not only are they my favorite flowers but they are so full that you have to purchase a minimal amount to create a pretty arrangement. We alternated the hydrangea arrangements with floating candles.
We made individual strawberry shortcakes for one of the desserts. The party was in August so it was a nice summery dessert.
The birthday cake was a mint chocolate brownie cake. The base of the cake was a giant brownie with a mint mousse (made from fresh mint from the garden) on top. The whole cake was glazed in ganache and decorated with crushed oreos, chocolate, and fresh mint leaves.
For a lighter option, we made a key lime pie- my grandmother’s recipe!
